NCS was present at the 30th International Meeting on Didactics of Experimental Sciences.

Melilla and the University of Granada hosted from September 7th to 9th the 30th International Meetings of Didactics of Experimental Sciences (30EDCE), organized by the Department of Didactics of Experimental Sciences of the University of Granada and the Spanish Association of Teachers and Researchers of Didactics of Experimental Sciences (APICE).

The Neuroeducation, Science and Society research group has contributed to its organization and participated in it through our project Identification of scientific contexts in society. Tools for teachers and citizens (RTI2018-094303-A-I00). Likewise, different members of the NCS group have attended and contributed to the scientific program of the meetings.

Opening plenary session

Dr. Ángel Ezquerra in the presentation "Neuroscientific foundations to promote research in science didactics".

Dr. Ángel Ezquerra, director of NCS, was the guest speaker at the inaugural conference of the 30th EDCE. The title of the conference was Neuroscientific foundations to promote research in didactics of experimental sciences. In this conference, a summary of the research activity carried out by the NCS group was presented, as well as the past and future objectives of the research lines, focused on new approaches and paths for research in science didactics.

Science and Society

In the Science Education and Societyline, we participated in the workshop together with other research projects, presenting our R&D project Identification of Scientific Contexts in Society. Tools for teachers and citizens. In this project we proposed to develop methodological tools to help teachers and citizens to identify the science present in social contexts and to promote the development of educational proposals (both at compulsory levels and in the training of future teachers) that link the classroom with these environments.

Several proposals were presented in the communications. Should science intervene in our daily life? Reflections of future Primary Education teachersThis study gathers the vision of students of the Primary Education Degree on where science should intervene in daily life and the vision on the functions and/or limits of science.

In Do teachers in training have a different perception of pseudosciences and superstitions than the general population? shows the results of a survey conducted among teachers in training programmes in several Spanish universities. Its aim was to evaluate their beliefs in pseudosciences and superstitions and a comparison between their results and the rest of society.
